History
The Library founded in 1940 serves the View Park-Windsor Hills residents of
the unincorporated area west of the City of Los Angeles north of the City of
Inglewood and southeast of the City of Culver City.
Library service was provided through a leased facility of 2,300 square feet,
located at 5400 S. Harcourt Avenue at 54th Street. The library moved to its
present location in 1977 and offers a full range of library services.
Collection
The current collection contains 71,200 books, including large print materials,
68 magazine and newspaper subscriptions, 2,998 audiocassettes, 5,131
videocassettes, pamphlets large print materials and an extensive collection
relating to the African American experience.
Services
The library offers reference and childrenšs services, online library catalogs
that provide access to the County Library collection and to online reference
databases, public access Internet computers, a coin-operated photocopier,
lounge areas and a conference meeting room. The conference meeting room may
be used for small group meetings and study groups. The lounge areas provide
adequate room for displaying local artists' work, a display cabinet for
artifacts and handicrafts collections.
Facilities
The library has 7,500 square feet on one floor. Handicapped parking spaces
are provided and there is parking adjacent to the building. A public telephone
is available for use in the lobby.
