History
Graham Library was established in April 1915. The library was first located in a school and then moved into a store building two years later. In 1928, the library was moved to a building located on Glendale and New Hampshire (now Holmes and 85th Street). In 1938, the Graham Library moved to new quarters at the corner of Boston (now 87th Street) and Fir and continued there until 1969, when the present library was built on Firestone Boulevard. The Library was refurbished beginning May 2000 and reopened November 2001.

The Graham Library was rededicated on November 8, 2001 after a $623,000 renovation. Colorful murals by Bolivian artist, Mario Cespedes, lend a festive air to the building. The library is the community center for the local neighborhood.

Collection
The current book collection totals 59,831 books, 4,837 audio recordings, 4,605 video recordings and 71 magazine and newspaper subscriptions. The library offers materials in both English and Spanish.

Services
Services available to library customers include reference services, including a public access Internet workstation and the Online Public Access Catalog that provides access to the entire collection resources of the County Public Library as well to several periodical indexes. The library offers year-round activities and reading programs for children as well as a Homework Center.

Facilities
The Graham Library is located in an unincorporated area west of the city of South Gate. This 5,145 square foot library features a separate area of adult and juvenile materials in Spanish, a large print collection and a section for the Homework Center and its special collection.
